Furnace Humidifier Filter Replacement – A Necessary Maintenance

So how frequently should you change your furnace humidifier filters? In most cases, you should replace your humidifier filters at least once a month. However, in some cases, your filter can last for several years, so it’s important to keep up with it. But, as mentioned, the frequency of filter replacements varies according to the condition of the filter, your home, and your environment. That’s why it’s best to consult with a qualified HVAC repair company if you need maintenance done on your humidifier.

You may be surprised to learn that your furnace hummers require replacement of its humidifier filters just about every six months or so. Some people think it’s necessary to change the filters more often. However, this isn’t necessarily the case. It’s best to wait until the humidifiers have completely run out of air and start showing signs of being sluggish. When this occurs, it’s best to get a new one and change the filter. That way, you’re assured that all of the air circulating through the humidifier is fresh and clean.

Humidifiers are designed to work by circulating the air through coils. The water in the water reservoir helps to condense the moisture. Once that water has run out of the reservoir, it is then sent through a heating system that re-creates the moisture inside of the humidifiers. The re-creation of the water inside of the humidifiers can cause condensation, which is the wet air that makes the furnace hums. If this wet air is allowed to continue circulating through your home and get on certain surfaces, it will eventually start causing problems with your home’s energy bill.
